Joanne Bartlett Obituary: In Loving Memory of a  – Baltimore, MD

OWINGS MILLS, MD — The Baltimore community mourns the loss of Joanne Passano Bartlett, a devoted educator, mentor, and leader, who passed away peacefully on November 7, 2025, at her home in Owings Mills, Maryland, at the age of 64. She was lovingly cared for by her husband, Chris Bartlett, and their two children, Elizabeth Brown and Nicholas Bartlett.

Her leadership extended beyond the classroom. Joanne served as both a board member and president at St. Paul’s School for Girls, guiding the successful unification of the St. Paul’s Schools while preserving their distinct identities. Her vision, diplomacy, and dedication left a lasting legacy within the St. Paul’s community.

Joanne’s life was also filled with love, creativity, and adventure. Known for her warmth and hospitality, she delighted in needlepoint, sports, and travel, creating treasured memories for her family and friends. She was a lifelong athlete, winning multiple Silver Cup tennis titles, and embraced golf as a cherished hobby in later years.

She is survived by her husband Chris, children Elizabeth and Nicholas, grandchildren Wesley and Russell, her father William Moore Passano Jr., and three siblings. A funeral service will be held on Wednesday, November 19, 2025, at St. Christopher by the Sea on Gibson Island, Maryland, with overflow seating and livestream at the Gibson Island Club.

In her honor, the Joanne P. Bartlett Endowed Scholarship Fund has been established to support students who embody her dedication to leadership, arts, athletics, and community service. Contributions can be made through the St. Paul’s Development Office.

Joanne’s life and legacy of education, love, and generosity will continue to inspire all who knew her.
